Chillin’

Last night, we were actually able to turn off two of the three fans in our bedroom before retiring for the night.  Amazing.  I’m looking forward to putting a blanket on top of the bed.  I put on a jacket this morning for the first time and it felt nice!  It won’t be much longer before we’re lighting a fire in the fireplace, its light and warmth coming from the mesquite that’s plentiful here.  I’ll even get another remembrance of Santa Fe as I buy some pinon wood to add to the mix.

When I was little, I had to have my “cubba banky.”  I had two of them, so one could be washed while I clutched the other one for security.  My Mom found one and gave it to me a few years ago.  I have it in my pine chest with a bunch of other sentimental stuff.  I was looking for something there the other day and happened to touch it.  It still feels unlike anything else to me.  Strange, but true.  They don’t make blankets like that anymore.

I’m even able to sit here and drink my coffee without breaking out into a sweat.  Hey, it’s the little things.

Oh yes, how well I remember those blankets. One of them you wore out until it was in shreds. And you wouldn’t go anywhere without it. If we left home and forgot it we had to turn around and go back home for it. Otherwise you cried and wouldn’t sleep at night.

What sweet memories. We used to call you Linus because you drug it around by one corner and sucked your thumb.:roflol:
