Climb that hill again…

God bless Tom Petty for that line.

It’s been a dark week for me and it has nothing to do with the sun or lack thereof. Some of the consequences resulted from my own poor decisions, others have been beyond my control. It could always be worse, though, so I count myself lucky.

One of Randy’s coworkers lost a brother over the weekend. This man, lost deep inside his depression, apparently decided to take his own life. His pastor and some others went out looking for him late Sunday night but were too late. Reuben walked down the railroad tracks as a train was approaching. The engineer caught his eye as this brother, father, husband, son and friend decided to jump out of the way at the last second. It was too late. The front of the engine caught him and severed his body below the waist. Although an ambulance arrived within three minutes, he had already bled to death.

This life is not a dress rehearsal. Whatever negative things life throws at you, it’s never worth removing yourself from the planet. Ever! There are a lot of other solutions and one you can live with. Not a single soul on this planet was put here by accident. Think about it.

I’m so sorry to hear about Randy’s coworker, and about your own dark week. It seems as we are never done being challenged. I often wonder if we are really here for a reason…or if things happen for a reason. Either way you are correct though…life is too precious to cut it short. My sympathies go out to Randy’s friend…and I’m trying to send some positive energy your was as well! Be well my friends, TGIF…and have a good weekend!
