More Good News Anyone?
This was a chemo week.
The usual routine is for me to go to the clinic, do blood work, see the doctor and start the three day chemo routine.
I was on the examining table and all of a sudden Dr. Blakely goes “WHOA!!!!!!” Now this could be a good thing or a bad thing, right? I sort of sit up and before I can say anything she says, “The Freeloaders are leaving.” I was kinda surprised she was calling my liver tumors by my nickname. All I could say was “Leaving?” She said “Yes, your liver is smaller than it’s ever been while you’ve been taking treatment here.”
My co-workers can’t feel any of the side knots that we’ve been feeling for the past month, so we’ve suspended our game of “Feel Susan’s Tumors”. There’s nothing to feel.
Even though it’s great news, this has been a rough week for side effects. I’m having to wear gloves pretty much all the time because my hands are so sensitive. My feet have some minor neruopathy (pain). It’s in spots, but the only comfortable shoes I have are my bed room slippers. Herman, the tumor in my bum, was really giving me fits last night. Whe I would wake up to let the dogs out, he would be hurting. The good thing about being as pain free as I have been is I can pretty much take the pain killers as needed.
I wish I had a camera. I have a great case of chemo flush going. It looks like I have spent the majority of today in the sun on some Carribean Island (don’t I wish). It’ll be gone tomorrow and it’s one of the few side effects that don’t really hurt, it just looks funny.
Two last things before I sign off and go to work, does anyone know where I can get some gloves with some feathers on them? If I have to wear golves, I may as well enjoy it and if I happen to make someone laugh, it’s that much better.
Second, if you want a fun CD to listen to, check out the CD Constantine by Constantine Maroulis. It’s not going to win any awards, but it’s fun and it’s poppy.
I just LOVE me some good news!!
I also am familiar with that word, “neuropathy.” Amazing what you learn in M.T. school.
Anyway…too bad you can’t buy some toe socks for your feets too. I know you remember!

Steph, that was Susan’s post, just to clarify.
I would do the toe sock thing, but the pain is in certain spots. It’s in the back of my heel, the joint of my right big toe where it connects to my foot, under both little toes. It’s not the entire foot, which is weird. LIke I’ve posted before, my body has become it’s own person. Sometimes it’s interesting to just sit back and see what it’s doing now.
Oh, one more good news thing. Yesterday (Saturday) pain was minimal. Today as of 11:10 am I’m pain free. We’ll see what the rest of the week brings.
Hi Susan,
I just read some of your blog. I am a stranger to you, but wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you. Very much.
Sincerely,
Ross
Thank you Ross.
