Radio Widow
I’m sitting here alone, after sending Randy off on a wing and a prayer this morning. He’s doing a morning air shift for the new “True Oldies” format, from 7 to 9 a.m. I guess it’s better than in years past when he worked 6 to 10 a.m., but we were both much younger then. Not that it was easy!
By the time I got up, Randy was already in the shower. He let me “sleep in” and I woke up about 5:15. Now my little routine is all messed up.
I need to learn to go with the flow. Thank goodness he already had made coffee.
Last week, I noticed the first honeysuckle blossoms beginning in my back yard. I took a few photos yesterday morning with the intention of posting them here, but my camera had other plans. The battery compartment is cracked, from years of use and (no doubt) from my dropping it a couple of times during its lifetime, being the klutz that I am. So…unless I pull a redneck engineering trick and duct tape that sucker, I don’t expect to be able to unload or take any more digital pics. We found a camera that we want, but of course it’s nearly $300 which neither of us has. Not that it has ever stopped us before, but I still have a few medical bills waiting to be paid. You’ll have to make do with a photo off the web.
Back to honeysuckles: My first memory of them was when I was a little girl, playing in my grandmother’s back yard. She had several of these beautiful, fragrant vines in her back yard. I loved plucking a bloom, pulling the tiny green end off, and tasting the sweet nectar inside. No wonder hummingbirds love them so much. I have always loved the scent of honeysuckle, and when we moved into this house, the plants were already established in the back yard. Another sign to me that we would love living here. That and the upstairs room (or loft). It would take a lot to get me to move away from here.
Onward through another week. Hope yours is a good one!
