It’s been a good day so far. Not only has the weather been beautiful, but my bosses took us ladies (ladies?) in the front office to the Abilene Country Club for lunch in honor of “Administrative Assistant” Week.
I find it funny that the politically correct term is used now, as if “secretary” was some sort of dirty word. Although I’m not a secretary per se (I’m a data processing, laser printing, digital press operating part of the furniture if you MUST know), the word doesn’t offend me. Especially when there’s a free lunch involved. I think we go too far with the PC thing sometimes. Can you imagine if we put those energies into something really substantial instead? What a concept!
I still can’t believe someone sued McDonald’s several years ago because they spilled their coffee and…wait for it…it was HOT! Shocking! Like this person didn’t know this ahead of time?
Of course, I do call our printers “stupid machines.” I guess I could start saying “irritable paper consumers” instead. It’s just a darn good thing they can’t sue.
