Aging and the Workplace
Anyone who tells you there is no age discrimination in the workplace is either too young to know or trying to fool you.
Over the years, Randy has seen more changes where he works than anyone could imagine. True, radio tends to be a young person’s game, but he has been doing it since he was 17 years old and has a world of experience under his belt. He has always taken “the high road” and treated others according to The Golden Rule. Of course, in this day and age, that gets you nowhere from a worldly standpoint. That’s how sick the world has become. We’ve always had a special bond with people far older than we are. I think part of that has to do with respect. But I digress.
Randy started KEYJ many years ago at the request of his GM at the time. He built it from the ground up, using his own music library and vast knowledge of the same. It has since changed formats (surprise, surprise) and Randy hasn’t been directly involved with it for years. Now, after multiple ownership and management changes, he has found himself in a position where he is no longer wanted. He feels that the ax is about to fall from someone who doesn’t even have a clue about this business.
As with everything else, I am leaving it in God’s hands. He has never let us down before, even if we didn’t agree with His decision at the time. I just want Randy to feel happy and needed again. He is far too talented for it all to go to waste because of someone’s skewed perceptions.
