Randy and I “slept in” until 5:30 yesterday morning (40 whole minutes!). We got ready, downed a cup of coffee, and I headed to Wally World for groceries while Randy went to the radio station to get the van so he could do a remote out at Dyess Air Force Base Airfest.
I’m about to pick up my last few items when my cell phone rings (which is a rarity in itself). Randy said the van (it’s a P.O.S.) had stranded him after he killed the ignition at the Visitor’s Center at the gate at Dyess. I finished up and headed home to get a portable battery booster (my German-engineered car is difficult to get to the battery posts for a jump). I was unloading groceries when my cell rang again. Randy had gotten it to start on its own after sitting for awhile. By that point, he had already spoken to Capt. Bissonnette at Dyess and told her about his predicament, and that he would probably be taking a raincheck on doing the remote. (It was a freebie.) She was fine with that, so Randy told me he was just going to come on home after returning the van to the station.
I sat down and began transcribing for 3 different PAs. The first two were horrible. I was ready to pull my hair out at the all the meds being rattled off. The audio wasn’t too hot either. I began questioning my sanity. Thankfully, the 3rd dictator was much better. I didn’t even have very many reports in all, and it took me about 8 hours to get it all done, with a break in the middle for lunch and a couple of other errands. I had to leave a ton of blanks. By the end of the day, I was frustrated (again) and tired.
Tomorrow, I have to email a form to my Account Manager requesting a change in my lunch hour (plus time off) for my ultrasound. My doc’s office finally got it scheduled for Wednesday at 11:00, and they want me to be there at 10:45. I usually take lunch from 11:00 to noon, so hopefully, I won’t have to make up too much time after all is said and done. I’m nervous, though, and I want this behind me.
I need to figure out a way to relax. I just don’t know how.
