Bad News-Good News

Randy is supposed to have his sutures removed today. However, the nurse called yesterday and told him the pathology came back as basal cell carcinoma and that the margins were not clear, meaning he will have to have more tissue excised. The good news is that this type rarely spreads to lymph nodes or organs. If left untreated, though, it can damage muscle and bone. It is also difficult to get rid of completely and increases the risk for other skin cancers.

Randy is sick of being cut on, rightly so. I don’t know when they will be doing the reexcision. It probably won’t be today, since I doubt they have enough time marked off on the schedule, but he is keeping his appointment at 9:00 this morning.

As an example of how “out of it” I am: I woke up this morning to find that my right eye was matted shut. I thought that was rather strange. I got up and looked in the mirror and finally realized that I had slept all night in my contacts! I never, ever do that. No wonder my eyes were goopy. I am losing my mind completely.

Anyway, please continue to keep Randy in your thoughts and prayers for complete healing. Thanks!
