Bitter Pill

We were driving down South 14th on our way to United Supermarket to buy some sushi, when we passed a McDonald’s.  The portable sign out front said “Now Hiring Morning Openers up to $8.50 an hour.”  It hit me that this is more than what I’m making now.  Considering I’m almost 46 and have 25 years of work experience under my belt, this was a sobering thought.

Granted, I did make a career change.  You have to start all over, I realize.  I like being at home with “coworkers” who don’t stab you in the back and spy on you every chance they get.  This is the trade-off.  Everything in life has one.

Just tell that to our economy, which is failing miserably as each day goes by.  We watched gas prices jump 27 cents in one day over the weekend.  Where does it end?

I don’t think it ever does end my friend. Just slows down sometimes more than others. Hang in there and keep the faith!
