Oops, I did it again.

Saturday, Randy and I were killing time at Circuit City.  I then asked if we could go to Best Buy.  I was frustrated because my ASUS was sitting on a truck at the UPS facility here and their office was closed.  I know, boo-hoo.  We turn the corner to walk toward Best Buy from inside the mall, and the first thing I see is a sign that says “Apple Store Now Open.”  I did a double take.

Awhile back, I had asked someone who worked there if they carried Macs in the store.  (They have them in their ad circulars.)  Unfortunately, they were only available online.  I had been interested in getting my hands on a Mac for a long time, really since I acquired my 40GB iPod Photo years ago.  

My heart started pounding as we went into the store.  Randy spotted the “Store,” which is actually a table with several Mac toys on display.  We made a beeline.  I felt like my head was spinning from the endorphin rush.  Crazy, I know…but if you haven’t figured that out about me by now, then you don’t know me very well.

My poor little desktop PC at home hadn’t been the same ever since a virus destroyed it several years ago.  I had to have the FireDog peeps at Circuit City salvage as many files as they could and restore the OS.  I’ve had it for what seems like forever in computer years.  

Long story short, I rationalized that I needed to replace my tired old desktop PC.  I still had some money set back from when I quit my other job, so I wouldn’t have to worry about paying anything out.  (No, I didn’t wipe out my nest egg, either.)  We left the store with Randy lugging a big ol’ iMac and me floating on a shopper’s high.

I don’t know how to use it yet, but like everything else in my life, I will read and hack around until I figure it out.  I could sure use a Mac Genius about now, though.

Life is short.  I want to enjoy a few things before I’m too old to care.  I don’t think I’m being too selfish in the grand scheme of things.  OK, maybe a little.
