Midnight Serenade
We slept in “the loft” last night although it was barely cool enough to do so. We had the windows open to help with that. About 1:30 in the morning, a mockingbird decided to put on an impromptu concert. (Wha???? Do mockingbirds not sleep at all?) His stage was our neighbor’s roof which just happens to be right outside our windows. He loudly went through his entire repertoire endlessly. I vaguely remember Randy getting up and closing the windows. Even with the white noise machine and a fan, we could still hear him. Sigh. Sometimes I wonder if things like this have some kind of meaning, or if it just simply is a method of sleep deprivation.

As I type this, we are finally getting the rain that was predicted yesterday but didn’t happen. We will take it whenever we can, especially with summer coming up. If only it hadn’t waited until after I got up at 4:45 so I could lie there and enjoy it. My timing hasn’t ever been too good.
We have a blackbird around that does the same trick – a blackbird that apperantly thinks he lives in another time zone. He sings most of the night on our rooftop, hours before the other begins at 4-5 AM. He’s a very talented and great singer alright, but one has to use earplugs to sleep tight  :meditate: Last night was terrible though – just as he was singing beautifully, he spotted a cat, and stopped singing and started cussing and scolding the kitty. Oh dear :headache:
