Sweet Surprise

Unbelievable.  It was raining when we woke up dark and early this morning.  It’s the first day of June.  Normally, by this time of year in our part of Texas, it’s dry, hot, and miserable.  We have had a strange weather pattern leading up to summer this year, one that is most welcome.  I’m wondering how long we can hold onto this good luck.

I can hear a few distant rumbles of thunder as I type this.  God is good!

We visited a ghost town (more like 2 ghost buildings) out in the middle of nowhere yesterday.  Unfortunately, we weren’t prepared to have to cross a barbed wire fence and traverse through mesquites, prickly pear, and knee-high weeds to get to anything, so I won’t post more about it until we have a chance to go back out there.  I believe jeans, boots, and insect repellant will be in order.  All I can say is that it was fascinating.  We did get photos but, again, I want to wait until we can get up close; then I’ll post a slideshow.  I love stuff like this.  I get all kinds of mind pictures and romantic notions of a time gone by.  Wait for it…
