True Survivor

Current Mood:Sad emoticon Sad

My mom called me yesterday to let me know that my grandmother is about to have surgery on her spine. If she doesn’t have it, she will be paralyzed from the neck down.

Granny is tough. She’s 85 years old, active, and sharp as a tack. She was dancing with a group of ladies when she was in her 70s and loves to bowl. She has outlived 2 husbands and is married a third time (to Doyle Taylor in photo below). She’s a fun-loving person who never stops. I can’t imagine her being paralyzed.

At the same time, I’m deeply concerned about her having surgery at her age with her underlying health problems. She has had back surgery before as well as heart surgery. She’s my last living grandparent.

My mom and aunt are planning to be in Temple for the surgery. Mom is supposed to let me know the exact date by the end of the week.

I’m placing this in God’s hands, that his will be done, not mine. I hope I have the grace to accept it.

My sweet daughter, Kathy, how very sweet of you to put this on your blog.

What a very precious and special Mother, your Granny, is to me. It is very hard for me to see her with the serious health problem she has.

I spoke to her tonight and she has not heard from the specialist yet, but said that she will be seeing him again before he schedules the surgery.

Her medical doctor ran an electric cardiogram and said that it looked as good as it did a year ago.

Your Granny is 85 years old. Thought maybe that is a typo error.

I just hope that God has a plan to let her stay with us for a while. She is such a wonderful Christian and I am sure that she will be ready when he calls her Home.

We would like to keep her for a while longer. But God will take care of her.

My sister and I will be by her side during this difficult surgery and recovery.

Thank you for all the prayers from everyone.

    Love,

    Mom

Thanks, Mom. I corrected the age. I wasn’t sure.
