After 103.9 with a heat index of 106 yesterday, and a 2-hour power outage last night, we are finally getting rain. (Yes, I checked and it is still raining.) We might have gotten a quarter to a half an inch. I am hoping for more but we will definitely take whatever we can get! I walked out to get the paper this morning and the wet concrete felt heavenly on my bare feet. Best of all, it’s supposed to only be in the upper 80s today!

Thanks to the resurgence of vinyl (records, remember??), we now have the opportunity to reclaim many of our favorite albums, many which were out of print.  Even new titles are being pressed, which is awesome!

I even ordered a couple myself, an old fave and a new release, and they came in this week.  Supertramp’s Breakfast in America has just been re-released on 180-gram vinyl by A&M.  Although we have several audiophile pressings of this classic, I am curious to see how this one sounds.  The new Beck, Modern Guilt, was also in my order.  It’s getting raves.  I can’t imagine anything being better than Sea Change or Guero, but that’s just my taste.  I’m looking forward to finding out!

CARCASSONE 07/09/08

Roger Hodgson conquered France last night in the magical city of Carcassonne. The venue was full of fans coming to welcome him back to France and sing along with the minstrel.

After the concert, the Mayor of the town honored Roger and presented him with a special commemorative medal of the city. He thanked Roger for the wonderful night and spoke how the beauty of Roger’s songs light up his face and take him back into the past of his youth. He said that everyone was very happy with emotion and nostalgia and the songs remind him of so many good things. The evening was magical for the mayor and he felt Roger was not alone on stage - but it was like a group. He expressed to Roger that Roger is a part of his life.

I’ll be posting these here also as they show up on Roger’s site at http://rogerhodgson.com. It’s shaping up to be quite a busy tour!
