“As the only airline caterer to operate from BIA Katunayake, we at Sri Lankan Catering have always excelled in culinary expertise. We have served major international airlines such as Emirates, Qatar and Turkish Airlines. As an award-winning catering company, we remain firmly committed to high quality food, safety and hygiene standards. Therefore, the production of high quality consumer products was simply an extension of our existing excellence. We first launched Cuisine Gastronome during the first lockdown, when our revenue streams were rapidly dwindling due to the pandemic. But it was difficult to reach our new clientele. We knew we had to maximize customer convenience to prepare food in minutes while maintaining the nutritional integrity and flavor of our products. We are happy to have collaborated on this project with the Dentsu Grant team who guided us from the beginning to the execution phase.

The product quickly aroused the interest of consumers, and we were able to reach the world market as well. Cuisine Gastronome’s positioning – ‘It’s Fine Home Dining’ beautifully captured the essence of the brand as well as the product promise we wanted to deliver to a discerning group of consumers, ”said Mangala Wijesekara, CEO of SriLankan Catering.

“Packaging is not a piece of communication that only conveys product information. He is the brand’s spokesperson at the point of purchase, the key moment of truth. The packaging must tie together all aspects of a brand – the brand’s positioning, its values, its emotional connection, the benefits to the consumer and the product promise creating a distinct brand experience that the target audience can believe in. It has been a great pleasure working with SLC, building the next global Sri Lankan brand, ”said Sajith Weerasinghe, Director of Strategy at Dentsu Grant Group.

Sri Lankan Catering first launched Cuisine Gastronome in Sri Lanka. However, in a short time the product reached international markets, gaining popularity in Australia and the United States. The company plans to make Gourmet Cuisine available worldwide, particularly targeting markets with a large Sri Lankan diaspora.
